These micro-prisms are able to reflect light which falls on its surface no matter what the angle is and are considered ideal for the purpose.

Reflective Tapes are used for a variety of purposes. Primarily, they are used in road signs and sign boards meant to guide and warn vehicles. The bright glow that the tapes emit when the headlights of vehicles fall on can definitely be a great help for drivers. One problem which drivers of vehicles encounter is not being able to distinguish any warning or guiding sign at night, due to which they are not able to take abundant caution while driving. This often leads to accidents that may result in injury or even death. Reflective Tapes are meant to avert such possibilities by making sign boards visible to drivers who can thereby slow down their vehicle and proceed with abundant care.

These tapes are also used on safety gear like helmets and safety jackets which are worn by motor cyclists. Sometimes during poor weather conditions or in the absence of any sort of light, these motorists can be made more visible to drivers of larger vehicles by the reflection of these tapes that are stuck on to their bikes or helmets and jackets. Cyclists too find it quite hazardous to ride on busy roads and reflector tapes can be stuck on the front and back so as to keep them visible and prevent mishaps from happening.

One of the main problems which pedestrians face while walking on the road sides is the danger of being hit by vehicles. This is a grave danger especially in the case of young children who walk home after school with their bags and other gear. You can use a reflective tape effectively on their backpacks so that they remain visible to vehicle drivers who would then take abundant caution to slow down and drive past them safely. Reflective tapes are a fuss free and cost effective option of enhancing safety levels effectively and should be used judiciously and carefully.
